We're looking for a driven Java Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Crew Dispatch team. In this role, you'll be shaping the products' architecture, design, and user experience, contributing to its success from the ground up. You will have the autonomy to drive innovation, solve complex challenges, and create a lasting impact on our organization.
This self-organized and cross-functional team will be developing products that manage FlixBus and FlixTrain crew (drivers, hosts, conductors, etc.) processes that happen before, during, and after a ride - planning assignments and schedules, executing and reconciling them for various mobility partners of Flix located around the world (e.g Greyhound, Kamil Koç).
The team consists of 5 people, including Senior Backend and Frontend Engineers, a Senior UX designer, and a Product Owner.

Your Tasks – Paint the world green
- You will be part of a self-organized, cross-functional distributed team owning a set of products that helps our passengers reach their destination on time and safely
- Place our users at the center when developing solutions together
- Drive the development process using an Agile environment
- Design new products from scratch and frequently deliver new versions of existing products, using continuous integration and automation
- Work with and learn how to use cutting-edge technologies and tools
- Drive technical decisions within and across teams to improve excellence through collaboration.
Your Profile – Ready to hop on board
- 3+ years experience working as a Backend Java Engineer
- Experience with distributed systems development: Spring / Spring Boot, Kafka, MySQL / Postgres (RDS), Redis (Elasticache), MongoDB (DocumentDB), SQS/SNS, S3, ElasticSearch, etc.
- Upper-intermediate level of English or higher
- You enjoy working within an Agile setup
- DevOps / infrastructure experience: Kubernetes, Docker, Gitlab CI, AWS, Terraform, Datadog etc.
Nice to have:
- Data Engineering skills: ETL, Snowflake, etc.
- You've worked with distributed teams before
