As a Junior Product Development Manager – Train Interior (m/f/d), you’ll shape the physical onboard experience of the future — developing and implementing tangible product and interior solutions that make our rail journeys across Europe more comfortable, sustainable, and enjoyable.
Our Product Development team brings physical products to life, from materials and fittings to complete train interior concepts. We ensure every FlixTrain reflects our vision of smart, green mobility and customer comfort. In this role, you’ll coordinate design, documentation, and technical requirements while collaborating with engineers, suppliers, and project teams to turn ideas into real, functional products.
About the Role
- Support the Product Development team in shaping the onboard experience and interior design of our trains
- Translate passenger needs into physical product improvements and design concepts
- Contribute to the design, sourcing, and implementation of interior components and materials
- Ensure technical and quality compliance throughout development and production phases
- Research trends in mobility, industrial design, and materials to drive innovation
- Organize documentation, samples, and project data for efficient project execution
- Act as a proactive problem solver — balancing functionality, cost efficiency, and sustainability
About You
- University degree or equivalent training in Industrial Design, Product Development, Mechanical or Transportation Engineering, or related field
- First professional experience or internships in product development, industrial design, or mobility (rail, automotive, aviation)
- Strong analytical, structured, and hands-on working style
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills
- High customer orientation and stakeholder management ability
- Team player with a creative, problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for mobility innovation
- Preferred: German (business level), experience with Adobe or design visualization tools, passion for sustainable transportation
