As a Kotlin Engineer with our Capacity Management team at Flix, you can make an impact by developing the services in the areas of:
- Capacity & Ticket Management
- Smart seat allocation
- Operational resilience on scale
We are looking for engineers with good coding skills in Kotlin (or Java willing to learn Kotlin) and ready to use it for web development of modern systems at Flix, both existing and greenfield.
Our tech stack is: Kotlin, Spring Boot, AWS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, k8s, Akka, CQRS, RESTful API, Event sourcing
About the Role
- Work in a cross-functional and self-organized team, which works on software related to our e-commerce business
- Work with microservices meant to assist in managing the capacity of various capacitive-sensitive products
- Analyse, propose and drive technology improvements
- Write clean code
- You will have a lot of room and autonomy to concept and implement new features, while maintenance and continuous improvement of the existing codebase will also play a big part in your role
About You
- 3–5 years of relevant experience developing scalable web applications on the JVM stack, with at least 1–2 years of hands-on experience using Kotlin
- Willingness to work with Kotlin - we do all new development in Kotlin
- Good understanding of OOP and Software Design Patterns
- Experience designing and working with relational databases
- Good knowledge of testing principles
- Familiar with CI/CD and deploying to production
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Passionate about healthy team culture and collaboration
Nice to have – willingness to grow in/learn:
- PHP knowledge/experience (to be able to read our legacy code in PHP)
- Experience with Akka
- Experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of Kafka-like message brokers
- Experience applying Event Sourcing pattern in a microservice architecture is a strong plus
- Familiar with cloud providers (AWS is a plus)
